You are brave and fierce. Fall into the wonder.
We are always learning what it is to be human, how to care for ourselves and one another.
The first three months of life are a sacred time when parents and babies become aquainted and fall in love. Postpartum doulas specialize in supporting families during this season, honoring the strength, fragility, confusion, and delight which coexist after birth. As a postpartum doula, Rachel provides compassionate in-home support to families and their new babies during the three months after birth. Rachel enjoys working with new parents, families with twins/multiples, NICU graduates, and babies with specialized needs.**
Postpartum Doula Hourly Rate: $30/hour (available for purchase in 8-hour increments)
Postpartum shifts are typically four hours long, either in the morning (8:00-12:00) or afternoon (1:00-5:00). Evening or overnight services can be arranged on a case-by-case basis, contingent on availability. Depending on the needs of the family, postpartum services may include;
- Caring for the baby while parents rest, shower, or eat
- Observing and educating about feeding (breastfeeding or bottle feeding)
- Answering questions about the baby's development, needs, and care, and providing resources
- Accompanying the family to pediatrician visits, if desired
- Light housework
- Sharing in the wonder of your baby
** Rachel's background in nursing means she is comfortable and experienced in caring for babies with complex needs. However, the postpartum doula is a non-medical role and should not be considered a substitute for medical or in-home nursing care prescribed by a physician. **
